Description: This car started out as a 4 cyl turbocharged 5 speed

When the turbocharger went out and the front end had been wrecked I decided to park it in my garage until I could do something with it not wanting to part with it I kept it around for 6 years with no more accomplished than removing the 4 cyl engine from it and allowing it to collect tons of dust and mouse poop... I had been driving a 1993 Chrysler Concorde until it was flooded in a bad storm insurance gave me 3500 dollars for my ruined car and I proceeded to build the thunderbird as fast as I could I purchased a 302 from a mustang shop that only had 60k miles on it from a wrecked 94 GT we slapped it all in and threw the fuel injection junk to the side bolted on a performer 289 intake and a 600 cfm manual choke edelbrock carb and got her running... 8000 miles later the 4cyl transmission with mustang clutch decided it had had enough and exploded the clustershaft when I dropped the clutch hitting third gear at 60mph ....normally this induced a solid squeal from the rear tires unfortunately for me this time it threw the rubber mounted harmonic balancer off of my driveshaft and turned my transmission into a shrapnel holder so I installed a tremec TKO T5 transmission normally used by the die hard 5 speed drag racers I knew this transmission wouldn't give up so easy so I figured it was worth a little extra money and it sure seems to be tough so far. the best drag strip run I have gotten so far is 14.2 at 96 mph with a 2.1 sixty foot I have future plans for a twin turbo t3setup on this 302 to keep the turbo coupe living up to its name :)
