Description:
My father bought this car when I was eight years old. We keep it stored at a stable for almost 10 years. After all those years, believe it or not, the TC started the first time. After a few months we had to replace the head gaskets. The car was slow since I can remember but then one day, a massive lack of power occurred, totally obstructed catalytic converter. So I decide to get rid of the entire exhaust pipes without replacing them (too expensive). The car was very noisy but worked fine until the turbo gave up. I pull a used turbo from a wrecked TC (very very hard to find in Mexico) After a month that turbo gave up too due to a clog in the turbo oil lines. A US dealer sent me a rebuilt one. Two days after I replaced that, the fuel pump stopped working. Then after US$90 the problem was fixed and oh my god! Finally after a long long time I got the chance to see what a Thunderbird Turbo Coupe was capable of doing, I mean FAST! But then the tranny developed a problem. So I went for the STD transplant (the same turbo donor car). Next the US$300 3" complete exhaust system w/flowmaster (Currently I miss that V8 sound but law is law). Except for a distributor problem the car gave me no other headaches. Let me tell you, IT HAULS ASS WHEN THE TURBO KICKS IN. I'm thinking in the future to do: $1300 paintjob, 17" wheels, 347 stroker v8 engine (I don't have time for all that sensors, filters, ported heads, injectors and other unefficient-for-10s stuff) plus a Tremec T56 STD.
